Three Reasons to Learn a Musical Instrument

Going to work, taking care of family obligations, and maintaining a social life can mean that day-to-day life may become very busy for many individuals. It may sometimes feel like there simply isn’t enough time to learn new hobbies or participate in activities outside of work and family commitments. Regardless of how hectic life can get, it’s important to set aside some time to be creative and have a bit of fun! One way to be creative, have fun, and learn at the same time is to pick up a musical instrument. There are many benefits to learning a new instrument, and here are three reasons why it may be a great idea to start playing one.

1. Reduce Stress

Taking time to study an instrument may help to reduce stress. Stress is known to be very unhealthy for the body, and reducing it may help maximize an individual’s overall well-being. Playing music can be relaxing, and it may be beneficial to set aside approximately 15-30 minutes per day to focus on becoming familiar with an instrument. The time used to practice the guitar or piano, for example, can also be thought of as time being spent as an investment towards achieving and maintaining good health.

2. Make New Friends

The field of arts, music, and entertainment is filled with incredible and interesting men and women all over the world. One visit to a music store to purchase an instrument – such as the piano store Boston, for instance – could also be an opportunity to meet new friends.

3. Discover New Interests and Talents

Picking up a new instrument may provide the opportunity to discover new interests and talents. There are lots of instruments to choose from, and there are many avenues to explore in the field of music. Playing music may even spark a new career in the music industry. The joy derived from making music creates endless possibilities!

End of the Kids’ Vacation

Summer has passed and now rainy season is taking over the hot and humid temperature of the year. With the coming of the rain the kids’ school break has come to an end as well. My own son and daughters have mixed emotions about the end of their vacation and the coming school year. They’re sad that rest days are over and they will wake up very early again but excited as well because they’ll get to see their school friends again after more than two months.

The kids only have memories now of their happy school break when they’re so excited about the beginner guitar available at Musicians Friend at the start of their vacation. They want it so badly that they thought of taking a summer job to save for a new guitar. Kids are so fond of musical instruments that they want to work to be able to buy the instrument they love so much.

Spending Vacation With Music Hobbies

My girls started their college school break this week and they started planning how they will spend their 4-month long vacation. PUP has adopted the new season for college schooling and will start the next school year period on August. With this new schedule the students will definitely feast with the very long summer vacation for the first time in the history of their university.

Gen is planning to look for office summer job but I advised her to search for nearby locations only and if possible work for only 4 hours so she can still enjoy her vacation with complete rest, sleep and relaxation. Taking up Engineering course is not that easy so I want her to have a good break to prepare herself for the coming school year, She’s on her third year of taking up Industrial Engineering so I assumed that it would be harder, I’ve taken an Engineering course by myself so I understand the hardships of completing Engineering degrees.

Anyway it’s not all work and rest for school break as Gen started tuning up her first favorite musical instrument, her acoustic guitar and I woke up hearing her playing a bit of her music piece. She still has to go to her school for final submission of her reports so she stopped after a while. She just told me to browse martin hd-28, check it out at MusiciansFriend.com and take note of the price as she wants to save money for a new guitar when she decides to have a summer job.

I know that even if she wants to work part time she’ll still dedicate some hours on playing her musical instruments. It’s in her system already and its one thing that warms her blood and makes her happy.

Choosing New Music Pieces to Play

Few days more and it’s the start of school break for my college girls. For now they’re so busy and rest is very elusive with their hands full of projects and examinations but next week they will be able to recover and regain good sleep. I heard Gen is getting ready for some musical pieces she want to practice in her vacation.

I saw her looking through carvin at Guitar Center and figured that she’s thinking of getting a new instrument. She’s so in love with playing musical instrument that she fancies herself using up all her free time on her music hobbies. She’s really a musician at heart.

Planning for School Break Activities

It’s the last month of school before summer break and we’re starting to plan how we will spend our most awaited break. It’s only my husband teacher and the kids who will be on vacation so we will still schedule it on a weekend. Anyway it’s still good for them as long we’ll be able to enjoy swimming or picnic together. We will not go if one of us will not be available so we’re planning it seriously, checking all our schedules so we’ll arrive at one agreed date and time.

Well it’s just one of our plans as we have many other activities waiting for our free time like putting up wooden plant boxes for our vegetables, general cleaning of the upper story, visit to our hometown province, setting and starting up a new business and many others. Of course, music lessons and practices will not be left behind as it’s my kids’ priority this summer vacation because they want to learn playing new musical instruments.

It’s good that wwbw has marching french horn that Gen is considering if she’ll study it this summer or in the next school break. She’s starting to play drums and if she can accommodate another instrument maybe it’s going to be one of those brass instruments. I’m glad that they love music like their grandfathers.

Learning Music and Finding Some Fun

Since Josh has started his Math training in his new school he hasn’t any time to practice his keyboard and sometimes he really misses it. When he was in his former school one of his extracurricular subject is Musical Instrument where they study playing their chosen instrument every Saturday for about 2 hours. The objective of the activities is not just having extra grades on their card but learning how to be good in playing musical instruments as well. This way they can have real fun and educational activities in real life not just online.

Restoring the old fashion music learning is better than the usual online trends nowadays and it also prevents the kids from being too hooked up in computer games. Well my kid sometimes has some funny questions to me when he was just starting to like playing instruments. He used to ask me about the big instruments with horn like french horn mouthpiece and some other with very big ones he always see in parade. Well I just answer him that varied sizes of horn creates varied sounds in music and handling those instruments is just as hard as playing it. Well it’s just a thought.

Another Musical Instrument to Learn and Play

It’s the Industrial Engineering week in my daughter’s university and though she wants to be included in their band performance in playing guitar, beat box or keyboards she was assigned to play drums. That’s a real surprise to Gen because she has never played that kind of instrument since she started playing musical instruments. She was so busy with her preferred string instruments and in her piano playing that she really ignored the drums.

Well the drums are for Josh anyway so it’s not really Gen’s priority. Now her section is really keen on making her play drums on their performance night that she’s forced to learn in one or two days. Wow can you beat that? Well it seems that she has no choice now and should follow their leader which prompted her to go over music friend site for some information on the required drums instrument. I told her like any Mom should be saying that she can do it and will pass with flying colors. She smiled but thinking on how she would make time for the practice because it’s their examination week these days.

Music Upgrade in the Church

It’s always a good thing for me to update our musical instrument in the church because quality instrument brings about good music. Praise and worship wouldn’t be so good without a good musicality and with that a clear and good-sounding background instrument is the only solution. Well our church is not rich as its members are ordinary people only but we strive hard to save money to invest on the things we need in our fellowship.

The ministers had their special meeting to give attention on how we can source out funds for new musical instruments and they came up with a timeline that will give ample period for the members to give their share. Since we all want an inspiring singing during our Sunday and Wednesday fellowship it’s not hard to ask for pledges from all of us. Just now I was browsing through avalon u5 and some other equipment and accessories that would be a nice addition to the instruments we’re planning to buy.

Josh’ Talents and Skills

School is nearing the end of the first quarter and I’m wondering how my boy will be ranked. His adviser has some good remarks on him being always attentive and fast in understanding their lessons. He’s the leader in some of his subjects and he doesn’t have any problems on his assignments and projects. I’m just not comfortable with him being so cool and relaxed as he’s also like that last year when he didn’t qualify in the honor roll. Anyway competition is really tough now as they’re all chosen and ranked according to their grades and I assume they’re all outstanding in their former years.

We actually don’t pressure him to be in the top 5 but we always remind him to maintain his grade so he will not fall under the stratified sections, as of now he’s in the first stratified section which is the cream or pilot section after the Science class. We just enrolled him in the public school because it’s more competitive and my husband will be teaching there too hopefully next year. It’s better if Josh will be in the same school as his Dad so he can be well monitored and taken care of. He’s turning 13 next month but he’s still such a young boy in some of his ways.

One thing I like about him is his very smart moves and thinking being so wizard-like when it comes to computers especially in codes and in some mobile software. He just learns it all by himself, always researching about things and absorbs data so fast you will wonder if he’s really 12 only. He’s also crazy about drawing cartoon images and playing musical instruments. His favorite instrument is keyboards and told me about kurzweil keyboards at wwbw.com which he fancies. My little boy turned bigger boy is growing up very skilled, talented and interested in everything that challenges him including writing journals. Now I’m taking extra effort in teaching and guiding him on whatever he wants to learn and things he puts his mind on so he can be the best of what he wants to be in the future.

Adding Up Music Room

My friend is having some additions to her house and this time it will include her dream music room which she will fill with her favorite audio and video appliances together with her collection of old and new musical instruments. She loves playing guitar since college days and until now on her free days she still find the time to strum some music pieces. It’s in her blood and no matter how busy her life she is she will do it even on limited time only.

Now she’s thinking of investing on some music instruments and accessories and adding it on her future music room. She would love having special accessories on her guitar, keyboard and some other necessities like summing mixer, audio gadgets and the likes. I’m really convinced that if you’re a musician you’ll stay a musician forever.

Music Talents from My Grandfather’s Genes

It will be another week and my kids will be free again to do what they want as it will be their break from school. Summer vacation is always a welcoming thought for them as we get to go around places, take the time to go swimming or just visit our hometown in Laguna. Even when at home we make the most of our time together free from school activities and just enjoying quality time with the family.

Just the other day Gen told me that she wants to learn how to play violin. She didn’t talk about enrolling in some school or workshop studio as she will try to learn it by herself. Well she’s a natural with music and I know she’ll be fine with learning violin just as she is in playing guitar and cleaning guitar strings. Except for the two months she studied basic keyboard lesson she didn’t attended any paid lesson in playing musical instruments but she did very well in her pieces. Maybe it’s the genes from my Mom’s father that’s working on her and also a gift from God and I always tell them that in time they will use their talents in our church.

More Offline Hobbies and Activities for Josh

With the coming summer vacation in six weeks time I'm now thinking of what my son will do to use some of his excess time for playing online. He's so keen on playing his favorite games online that I sometimes think he should learn to play offline games more of his time. I want him to have a well-balanced childhood and I think of cutting his online focus more on his more relevant hobbies.

With this in mind I want him to spend his time on his music hobbies like playing keyboards and guitar. We're having an inventory of useful musical instruments for him and we're also thinking of buying a ukulele tuner just in case he wants to have his hands on that instrument. I'll have to think more activities for him online.

Birthday Gift for My Kid

Now that Josh’ birthday is just a few weeks away I’m thinking of how can I make him happy on his special day. I’m planning to invite his classmates and let them enjoy the day on our house eating, chatting and playing with Minecraft theme. For the gift I promised him a new keyboard even though I didn’t enroll him in music class this year. He’s graduating from primary school and he has plenty of school activities. He has recently joined the Publication club and I was relieved he didn’t have Saturday classes.

Anyway with or without music class he still practice his musical pieces at home continuing what he learned from last year’s keyboard class plus little techniques from his sister Gen. The keyboard I was planning to buy has a stand already, not as beautiful as Yamaha P105 but nice enough to complement his musical instrument. Best thing about the package is the free acoustic guitar that they will give when you purchased the keyboard with stand and songbook. Good promo for the store and nice gift for my big boy.

Discovering Child’s Skills and Talents

A child needs to discover his skills and talents so at an early age he could improve it to his best advantage. Sometimes it takes another person to discern your hidden talents and you’re lucky if someone will be able to learn it early in time. Well most often the school helps in realizing each child’s capabilities and with the influence of teachers they’re motivated to enhance it. In music there are various ways of doing it like enrolling your kid in a music workshop or letting your kid choose what he wants to play.

Parents can actually see it when their child’s eyes lit up upon seeing particular musical instruments. For boys it’s always drums and guitars that impress them quite often. Sometimes it’s because someone has endorsed a certain instrument like when Joe Satriani did with Ibanez. Anyway whatever and whoever told them what kind of instrument to play it’s always their instincts and penchant that will lead them to what they’re going to play. Not to mention that genes has a something of importance also. Love for music often runs in the blood also.

Flair for Vintage Things

With all the needs for a grand home improvement of our house we really have to save and look for enough finances to carry the renovation. As flooding is now unexpectedly occurring even on stable places we need to secure our home from experiencing flood occurrences. We need to elevate our house a little so we will not be affected by flood if the water level on river and dams rises.

Our place houses some antique furniture from my father’s creations and we’re just happy that despite the various weather that hit our place those beautiful old furniture remained the same. In a way I love old things – furniture, books, pictures, toys and other things from the past because the things always remind me of my happy childhood. It reminds me of the days when my father still lives and he always create quality wooden furniture as his hobby.

Well we also have old musical instruments like guitar and our grand piano of middle 40’s which my father bought during American time as he told me. He plays amateur piano and learned it on his own. He loves to own vintage items and as the years go by his instruments became some kind of a vintage collectibles. I go after his flair old things and got excited every time I see MF’s vintage electric guitar which is not only classic but produce quality sounds as well. It’s like returning back to yesterday’s time when my father plays his vintage musical instruments. I missed him so much.

Looking Forward to Family Vacation

The long holiday is over and it will two months more before the next holiday which will fall on weekends. Anyway since the ‘ber’ months have already started we’re getting excited for our December church family fellowship and vacation in the coolest place in the country. As early as now we’re planning our trip, fellowship schedules, places to visit, restaurants to eat and places to shop for our souvenirs and pasalubong.

We will also look for authentic musical instruments made of specialized and quality woodcraft like we’ve seen at guitarscenter online. My kids love playing music to instruments of their preference and every place we go we look for some good music products of the place. Guitars are known to play excellently depending on the make and good choice of materials as advised to us by one of my kids’ music instructor especially the string instruments.

Home Arrangement and Inventory of Musical Instruments

We have so much to do at home during the long weekends and we’re just glad of the planned vacation given by the office. Since the new room of my Mom was built I’ve been spending all my free time tinkering and arranging things in our home as the new room used to be our study room. During one of my busy days at home I came to see some dusty musical instruments used by my kids when they’re younger like the lyre and the old guitar. The lyre is still at its best condition even after several years but the guitar has developed some dents and need to be repaired.

Anyway with the love my kids have for musical instruments we really have to save some money for buying new instruments. Well musician friends will be of great help when it comes to musical instruments as they have wide choices for the music enthusiasts. Browsing and surfing is such fun for my kids seeing beautiful musical instruments lined up for buying. I wish I can invest on buying some of their products for my kids’ inspiring hobbies.

Music in Our Home

Home is where we always want to be when we feel so stressed in our work and want to unwind in peace. Hence, we want it to be the most relaxing place on earth for us to be as comfortable and convenient as possible. This is also the place where we build not just our family but our dreams as well so it should be filled with all the beautiful things that we want to have. Our home is not as beautiful as dreamers would want but I can say that we always feel happy staying in our home which is filled with recreational things to fill our free time.

We all love music and my kids take time off from their other activities to spend time learning musical instruments. I guess it’s also in our blood to have flair in music as my grandfather and uncle are great musicians in their time. Now I can see that my brother’s kids and mine are all devoted to playing various instruments like new youth electric guitar, piano, flute and drums. It’s so relaxing to hear the kids playing music at home especially when they play inspirational Christian songs which uplifts the spirits and inspires us as well.

Home Music Improvement

My brother just had some home improvement on his house although it’s already a beautiful and well-maintained house. Since he’s an Engineer and has two children taking up the same course and Architecture they never seems to stop improving their house. It’s not wasted though because every client that sees his home is quite impressed on his home design thus bringing in more clients than just expected.

Now they’re thinking again of improving some sections in his house or adding some furnishings or items like m1 active 520 in their music room. My brother is a born musician whom he got from our mother’s father and ancestors. Our grandpa was known for his musical instruments’ expertise and competitive singing and we’re lucky that all of our children are also gifted with such talent. Anyway the addition of such studio monitors would be of great use to them and they will surely enjoy it.

Family, Summer and Music

The weather suddenly changed too fast last weekend and most people in the city regret the change as they want the colder temperature which they usually get when they visit Baguio. Well for me I welcomed the change because I got a stomach coldness last week and every time I was exposed to direct air conditioner my stomach crumbles. It was a bad week for me and I felt different this week because I can eat anything without fear of having stomach pain.

Anyway I can feel the coming of summer with the breeze of air slowly becoming hotter, maybe not that hot this week but it will before the end of the month. Well for me summer is a happy season as it bonds the family. During summer we do a lot of family activies and short travels. It's also the times of sports fest, summer class and musical bonding with the kids.

I can say that summer is a great time for learning new craft and other musical instruments or perfecting musical pieces. I will not be surprised if the sales on these instruments increases because lots of kids prefer to buy on this season where they can really have time to study and hone their skills. I also prefer to look for new accessories, nstruments on those dates like squier vintage modified strat at guitar center and many others. For people who plays guitar it's a great help to find everything you need.
