It's my first time here and I'm enjoying viewing all the posts that corresponds to the theme 'tools'. Well there are many tools used in the house, kitchen, office and every work place I go but I chose this one. My entry are my kids' school supplies and bags which I considered as their tools for enhancing their learning, their tools for education. It looks simple as ordinary notebooks, crayons, pens and pencils, bags, etc. but it helps them to achieve further learning as they grow. Without these they will not have proper tools to educate themselves.

I partially agree with this one as basic knowledge starts in classrooms they teach the basic and fundamentals but the kids learned it the best way when they encounter it in real life. Real experiences are the best way to learn something. And where can we get experiences of course it should start at home as parents should teach their children more than their teachers. For me teachers are just starters, parents are secondary teachers who guides their children in what they've learned from school and then exposure to society and putting your knowledge into action and life is the best teacher of all.

But sometimes you can have so much knowledge in school especially if the school teaches vocational courses where you'll have to study for a few months only. There they teach the actual work that can be done. Education is fast-paced and more on actual education than theories.

Hope I can be of help understanding this quote. Just expressing my opinion.

I love sports and during my school days I’m very interested in marathon, volleyball, table tennis and football. I enrolled in softball as my physical education subject in college and it was really fun though a little hard for some girls who find it hard to run fast. As I’m into walkathon and marathon it was so easy for me to have a homerun. I really enjoyed all the sports that I’ve enrolled in college like volleyball and table tennis. It feels different when you’re in sports. It’s also good for the body and I never gain pounds unlike now that it’s a lot of effort and time just to spend one day a month to do badminton. Convenience of Shopping Online

It’s been almost a month since the school opens and classes started again. With the opening of classes parents are again faced with providing their children supplies, uniforms, bags, shoes and other educational things needed by the students. Needless to say many of the students wanted their things new and nice especially their school shoes which they will be using for the whole year ahead. As I have three school children we spent three weekends just to complete all their needed school supplies and goods including bags and shoes. We have picked different stores to buy different supplies and it’s very tiring doing that.

Before the school begins I felt tired and exhausted from shopping all of my kids’ necessities in different stores. I’ve thought of the inconvenience of shopping on foot compared to shopping online because I’m used to it. I sometimes buy my things online and it gives me a lot of comfort and saves my time too. Maybe I’ll be able to do this once the school requires my daughter to buy a new running shoes for her marathon practices. This picture was taken from my office building when I was about to go home. Those are the buildings in Eastwood City in Libis Quezon City just a few kilometers away from our office. What amazed me here are the white circles resembling the shape of a moon scattered all over the top of the building. I just don't know what it was, as I recall my other shots the first was clear of any circle on the picture but as I snap my camera one by one these circles emerge leading to this final shot.

We were waiting for the interviewer in Gen's application for scholarship when my eyes lingered on this somewhat comic version of librarian carrying big books. Even if the load is obviously heavy he seems happy with what he's doing. And who wouldn't happy with working with books everywhere. As I love books it would be a delightful thought!

Father's Day

I'd like to greet and salute all fathers who've been a solid wall for their family in times of life's challenges and trials. A father is a shoulder to cry on, our hero and friend and most of all a vessel of God's blessings. I'd like to dedicate this to my own father whom I miss so much and my dear hubby who both gave me and my family the love and caring we need to face life's challenges.

I'm also sharing this to other fathers who have been a hero, mentor and friend to their children.

This is my creamy entry, a creamy buco-fruit salad we prepared for Mom's birthday last month. The shredded young coconut was brought from our hometown province to our home especially for my Mom's birthday, young coconut costs 75% less in Laguna so our relatives there always bring a lot of this fruit whenever there's an occasion to celebrate.

Anyway this salad has a lot of all-purpose creams and condensed milk in it mixed with fruit cocktail, nata de coco and creamy corn. It's so cool, fresh, creamy and delicious! Go try this one out!

My relatives in our province rely in their crops for a living. My mom used to get our college tuition fees from our coconut plantation which gives us a good harvest. We were young then and my uncle manages the whole plantation giving both of our families a good income. Aside from this they used to have rice farms which they do for their main living and as a child then I remember him telling me stories about his carabao and tractor which he used for his farm. Farming then seems to be not as easy as they don’t have modern attachments for their equipment like skid steer attachments which are powerful and very useful for forestry job. If only there’s one like this my uncle’s work in our plantation will be easy.

This photo was taken in our office when the daughter of our boss brought us 'pasalubong' from her one-year stay in New York. Banquet Rooms

It’s nice having occasion once in awhile especially if it’s a special one like birthday, baptism, wedding, anniversary or just a special gathering of family and relatives. My family used to have plenty of visitors here in our house and we’re always prepared for any occasion necessities needed to entertain visitors. Now that my Mom is old and we’re so busy with our jobs we find it hard to hold occasions in our home. We frequently celebrate special occasions in nice restaurants to free ourselves from tiring preparations. It’s more expensive but it’s more convenient and hassle-free especially to me because in our house I’m the one who cooks.

Anyway there are plenty of good restaurants out there who got several menus to satisfy us and our guests so we’re satisfied with the arrangements. My former officemate and friend who resides now in the US got some tips from me and now she also celebrate occasions in specialty restaurants like Italian restaurant banquet rooms in San Diego CA where she will reserve private rooms and just picked from the menus available there. She excitedly told me that she was happy with the arrangement and she used to hire different rooms aside from the main dining room and she’s very satisfied with the banquet lunch and dinner menus. Now she need not worry every time an occasion arises. She’ll just make reservations online.

Pretty Smile

What makes a pretty smile? First it must come from within and second is having beautiful white teeth which contributes to a beautiful smile. I’ve always loved looking at cute little smiles of young girls with white pearl-looking teeth and since I have two daughters I see to it that they take care of their teeth so they will have strong and white permanent teeth when they grow up. Puerto Vallarta Activities and Adventures

My sister Redge had a wonderful break from her work which she spent on a two-day stay in Boracay with her friends. She really enjoyed her stay and told me that she’d like me to go there also. What’s good about their vacation is their hopping from one island to another which gave them a lot of excitement. They even gave themselves time to do boating and snorkeling, she really loves it from the look in her eyes as she enthusiastically told me when she arrived after two days. I would like to go there also but since I have three kids in schooling these days I opted to forget vacation this time of the year.

As I’m also planning my own vacation when I have free time I browse vacation sites so I’ll have ideas on my intended vacation. I came across Puerto Vallarta activities and adventures which gave me real fun ideas on how to spent it because it offers a lot of air, land and water activities and adventures. As I’m fond of water activities and cruises I’m happy to know that they have lots to offer like dolphin swim, scuba diving, snorkeling and whale watching. Of course vacation won’t be fun without my family with me and I’m sure all of us will enjoy sightseeing, tours and expeditions this company is offering. Wishes!

Josh' First Day of School

Josh was so excited because his siblings were already going to their school since the first day of June and every time I prepare packed lunch and snacks for them he'll ask me to pack his lunch also even if he'll just eat his lunch at home. Every Sunday he'll ask me if he'll go to school on Monday. Now he's so happy that finally he'll see his school and classmates again. As always I accompanied him on the first day so I can see his room, his teacher and his classmates.

Josh was a little bit observant when he entered the room, his room 'the yellow room' was his room since nursery, it's just a coincidence but it happened it's his room again this year. All his classmates were new to him, most came from other schools, his teacher is also new. When they got out of the room Josh told me that everything in there are new except him and the yellow room :-) Parents who heard him saying that laughed at his funny comments, he can be like that most of the times, he has some sense of humor over many things!

Looking at the Sky on Friday - Mt. Makiling

This is a view from Luisa Ridge Resort looking at the sky atop Mt. Makiling. I was on top of the tallest cottage in the said resort and looking for nice views to keep in my photo collection. I was so lucky that after some clicks on my camera I was able to catch this single dry leaf passing by my camera as it slowly falls on the ground. I find this scene beautiful with a touch of dry leaf on the side.

Happy With Direct TV Packages

Sometimes we need to change location because of the requirements of our job or our health. I have a friend who moved out of the city to settle in the province because his health needs a lot of improvement and he needs a fresher environment than their present residential location. If he didn’t do that his health might be at risk. For some of my colleagues at work the necessity to transfer their family becomes a main factor due to their job assignment. Our marketing manager in my work gave up her job to join her husband who received a major promotion on a different state job location. If her husband will not accept the branch transfer he will not be promoted. Our chances of success sometimes force us to make major decisions.

Moving out to a new place is not a sad thing after all as you’ll get to meet new neighbors and friends, see other beautiful places and widens your horizons. It’s actually an exciting thought especially if the place you’ve transferred has a lot of accommodations when it comes to basic necessities such as supermarket, church, school, park and other community places. It’s easier also if you’ll have a nice communication media such as telephone, internet, cable and TV service where you can have the best channels you had in your old residence. You will not feel homesick if you have the convenience of watching the same channels you have in your old home.

My auntie who transferred lately to California told me that she was so glad that she has continued her Direct TV in California. Now she will not miss her favorite channels she had in her old home. We have the same preferences in viewing like her favorite HBO, Cinemax and sport channels. You know with people who love watching movies and shows everyday it’s important that they continue having the best TV service and packages that they used to have. She’s satisfied with what Direct TV has to offer them in terms of sports, movies and local channels and because old people doesn’t want a lot of changes she’ll stick with it as long as she’s happy and contented.

Reduce Stress the Christian Way

As a fulltime administrative officer in our company with multi-tasking job of a billing and collection officer, accounting supervisor and human resource officer it’s but normal to sometimes feel the stress in my mind and body. When I’m starting to feel the stress of my job I try to apply the Christian ways of reducing it so my life won’t be affected by what I feel. Stress is not a simple thing as it will also cause your heart, mind and body to malfunction. A friend of mine recently had her vertigo sickness surfaced because of too much stress. I shared her my ways of reducing stress whenever I feel it coming. To help us in our daily lives read this:

Pray, it’s the most important thing in our life. Prayers can move mountain so it’s easy to remove stress if you pray.

Go to bed early and get up on time so you can start the day unrushed – rushing can cause stress in us early in the morning so it’s better if we feel relax at the start of the day. As I have three kids who go to school early in the morning I see to it that I wake up 2 hours before their departure to cook and attend to their needs.

Take one day at a time and turn down projects that won’t fit to your schedule. I always tell my engineer brother who is into house construction to say no to projects that will compromise with his health and too much time. If the project requires him to travel far I told him to think it over before accepting.

Simplify and unclutter your life, if you have many tasks assigned to your department delegate some of the tasks to others that’s capable of doing it, believe me they will thank you for giving them the chance to prove themselves.

Pace yourself. Do and spread out hard projects over scheduled time, don’t try to finish it at once or you’ll be the one who’ll be finished. You might get sick, stressed or hospitalized. Sometimes less is more. Allow yourself extra time to do things, in this way you’ll enjoy your work.

Live within your means, don’t use credit cards on a whim. Don’t buy what you don’t need and do not need what you cannot buy, that’s what my parents told us when we’re just starting on our work. Simple living.

Be sure to have spare for the important things in your house like extra keys for your car or extra key for your house, backups on your computer files and etc. Some extras and spare things tend to loose tension because you’ll be able to use these extras on emergency times.

Less talk, less mistake or keeping your mouth shut once in awhile to prevent trouble.

Get enough rest, eat right and be organized. For your own feeling of satisfaction do something that you love best, if you’re like who wants to cook, enroll in a cooking or baking school and have fun while learning. Write down your thoughts and inspirations, it helps to unwind yourself you know!

Sit on your ego, forget your pride. Too much pride might swallow us.
